Kath Killick
Shepherd and fibreartist. Raises rarebreed longwool sheep and plays with their lovely fleece. Glossy curls are spun into yarns and I weave, knit or felt hand made craft. A passionate advocate for the ‘slow wool’ movement; improving the quality of our lives by revaluating how and what we consume.
"For me, crafting in fibres is not just about creativity or skill but about deeply connecting to our female ancestors, sharing with women of the present and together determining a more eco-sustaintable path future. I am delighted that all these same elements seem to be embodied in Womenfest."
Exploring Traditional Fibrecraft– An introduction to spinning and working with animal fibres (sheep wools, alpaca and mohair). Demonstrations with hands-on opportunity to try spinning. Group discussion about the role of traditional craft in linking us to the lives of women past, how it brings us together still today and how it can act as catalyst for a more sustainable future.
