We are fully Catered at Woman Fest, and this year we get to be fed the AMAZING team behind the Co-exist Community Kitchen!!!
The Coexist Community Kitchen is a non-profit cookery school based in Easton, Bristol. Our main aim is to use food as a vehicle to work with people who experience social marginalisation in our society. We believe that everyone should be able to have spaces in which they can share food together, learn and teach skills and create strong connections with others. We see food as the most simple and easy way to support each other in building a stronger, healthier and more joyful society. We mainly run cookery classes as well as running events, catering and hiring out our space to support us in our social outreach work. We began work in 2011 and have worked with thousands of people across Bristol and the South West. This has been through small cookery classes where people learn and share skills around food but most importantly meet each other, build connections, share food and feel at home. We have built strong partners with many organisations in Bristol that want to do the same- drug and alcohol services, mental health organisations, refugee and asylum seeker groups. Over the years we have been doing this, we have seen people, including ourselves, experience great change, build friendships and feel part of our home.
This year we have the pleasure of taking part in Woman Fest, bringing our main passion to you- making food and eating together! After a very long and crazy year, we are very glad to restart our external catering here at the Woman Fest and to be able to share and enjoy a long weekend together. We'll nourish your soul and belly every day at breakfast, lunch and dinner making a selection vegetarian and vegan options. Our style is a food that reflects all those people that have been part of the project so far: Aromatic and gentle flavours from Srilanka, Vibrant and colourful dishes from the Middle East, classic and always delicious Mediterranean style to more experimental dishes using fermenting and sourdough bases. So get ready to explore and enjoy the variety of multi-cultured meals!
