Charlotte Jane Kessler

Offering: Artwork, Body painting around site and Body Banners

As part of ongoing current painting work around feminine ancestral lines and reconnecting to our land and landscapes, this workshop will be a time of acknowledging our physical edges whilst experiencing them merging into our collective:  We will draw round each others bodies, allowing patterns to emerge from the spontaneous over lapping of outlines onto large sheets of bedding (old duvet covers/sheets etc). With Earth based environmentally friendly paints we will paint in the abstract and figurative shapes letting our imaginations go wild and free! I will bring old pieces of broken pottery found by twenty years of digging soil. With a view to offering some of the patterns as inspiration for the colouring in of some of the shapes.
I would like to highlight some of the body shape lines with gold paint, bringing out some of the natural feminine lines and to reflect the Kogi’s Shi’s weaving of golden thread, that celebrate the sacred lines of landscape and belonging.

About Charlotte:

Charlotte creates large scale paintings to express aspects of feminine empowerment, sensuality, vulnerability and beauty. While merging lines of inner and outer landscapes she invites reflection on the interconnective web of life which, through her feminine portraits hints at elements of harmony, discord and longing for reconnection.

"Being at the first ever Woman Fest last year, rekindled a deep aching in my blood and bones. It is like my soul and body knew this place and sense of feminine gathering yet had never been to an all-woman festival before. I had a stall selling art works and felt hugely supported by other women there who  not only bought my work, but wo-manned my stall when I was sick and helped me pack down at the end of the weekend. Memories of such warmth, movement and exciting conversations. I tell people my blood type is “W F” now :-)"
